(More customer reviews)Rarely have I used a pedal that is as functional as this one. Every control, including gain, volume, treble and bass are relevant and completely usable. Its incredibly easy to get a good sound out of this thing, and many sounds at that. It also features the option of using an external ac power supply, which at home I do.
I'm playing this mainly with a Gibson SG Supreme, through a Mesa DC-5 head and Madison 2x12 cabinets. Although im not huge on effects and pedals, this one I find the most usable, in the most situations. the RC Booster = one word: VERSATILE. Virtually all styles of music and creative tone seeking could benefit from this. Its great, and I often leave it on all the time. As I mentioned before, its really an all in one pedal, usable as an EQ shaper (treble, bass), distotrion pedal and boost. For years I was trying different distortion pedals, trying to nail what the RC does for me easily. I liked my amps distortion, but I needed something to push it to the edge. Something to add more grit, kick it into overdrive and make it scream. The RC Booster does this.
The EQ controls are very functional and sound good and usable at most settings. I prefer to have the treble just a bit past 12 o clock, and the base flat at zero. My only criticism is that the bass can get very boomy when turned past 1-2 oclock, and when combined with the volume boost is a bit out of control, since the volume boost fattens up the tone as it is. That is not to say the bass control is bad, it seems to be a little less usable than the treble control. It very much depends on your rig as well!
The pedal sounds very clean, with little to no noise, and is true bypass. My signal sounds just as clean with it on, as it does with it off!
I can honestly say theres nothing this pedal doesn't have that it should when it comes to a clean/grit booster. It truly has it all :) Its a little pricey, but good pedals with true bypass are. GO GET ONE.
