(More customer reviews)Upon buying and receiving this starter pack for my daughters 10th birthday, we were intially very happy. It is a beautiful blue guitar that sounded amazing right out of the box. Although it is a small thing the decals that were to be included were missing and to my 10 yr old it was an important item. I quickly emailed the company and awaited the response. The only response I got was a newsletter and monthly advertisments--no answer as to how to get the decals or if we even could. After a week I proceeded to call the company and was told (rather rudely)that the woman I was speaking with didn't handle that and she would transfer me to someone who did. I have since left 2 voicemails and have gotten no response. I don't understand the problem here I payed over $200 for this kit and expect everything to be in the package. If I had known it was going to be such a problem I would have packeaged it all back up and exchanged it. Will update when I hear anything.

(More customer reviews)I am very happy with this purchase; Some added features would have made this product a fabulous buy though.
cons:
a) The LCD display is not backlit and has a small viewing area. It is extremely difficult to read it.
b) The keyboard body has notations for each key, but is engraved on the body, and it being the same body color, it is impossible to read those notations - even in the day light.
c)It cannot record your voice. It is important if you want to compose and transmit through midi.
d) In the learning section, it would have been helpful if there was a 'slow' playback function too.
Pros:
a) Light weight
b) Grand piano is an excellent feature. Very good for piano learners, until they buy full size piano of their own.
c) Great features.
d) YESS learning suite is simply fabulous.
This model is far better than casio 496, which I was planning to buy earlier.
Great purchase...I like it.

Casio LK-55 61 Key Lighted Keyboard Review

(More customer reviews)I don't give out five stars lightly, but the LK-55 is simply outstanding! I've owned an older casio for years but never really learned to play. I asked for a lighted-key keyboard for Xmas because I thought it would help me learn, and it already has!
I admit I am musically challenged, I can't really read music, and the correct fingering gets me confused. This keyboard transcends all that. The next note is lighted (as in all lighted-key keyboards), but it also has right AND left hand icons indicating the fingering. And if you can't look at all that at once, just push a button and a voice indicates the correct finger ("one", "two", "three", ...). It has 3 different learn-to-play modes. You can read the play mode descriptions in the docs, but suffice it to say that this tough critic really likes casio's implementation.
I had previously, with much discipline, over a long period of time, learned a few bars of Bach's "Jesus Bleibet Meine Freude" (Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring). It is a beautiful song, and I was thrilled to learn a little of it. This keyboard made it easy. I didn't need to find the score, pick out the keys, put A-B-C stickers on the keys, memorize bars, find a recording to compare against, or determine the correct fingering (which I never got right before).
Oh, I almost forgot, it has a microphone and it is great for sing alongs (even if you only use the built in songs like a juke box). It has my wife's favorite song (over the rainbow), popular kid songs, holiday songs, and all the folk & classical songs I currently wish to learn.

(More customer reviews)If you've ever wanted to learn to play a keyboard, this is the unit to buy. I have wanted one for 10 years and finally decided to get one and I don't regret it a bit.
This instrument is excellent for the beginner as well as the advanced player. It has so many features, it would be hard to list them all. Even if you don't want to play it yourself, you can have it play any of the 100 self contained songs by itself! And if you want to learn, the lighted keys and the "voice" help will get you playing in no time. I had it only a few hours and I was playing several songs. Not bad for a beginner, huh?
This keyboard is larger than normal. Playing it from a table top or coffee table will kill your back. Spend a few extra dollars and get the stand. You back will thank you. You'll find that you'll spend endless hours playing with it. If you don't want to disturb others, you may also want to get a set of head phones. A word of caution. The plug is 1/4", not the normal 3mm you have for CD players. You can get an adapter at Radio Shack.
So take the plunge. Oh, by the way, this is not only for the kids. You'll enjoy it just as much. I'm 56 years young!

(More customer reviews)I have been using this unit for almost over a year now and I am very impressed. I play bass guitar for the Army band and our unit is currently deployed to Afghanistan. I got this head a month or so before we deployed and now that the deployment is almost over I can truly say this little head is for pros on the road! The structure itself is rugged and has put up with being dragged all around AF (not like that were an issue, it weighs next to nothing so it's easy to move and small too!). It has simple controls but they are authentic. 9 times our of 10 a bass amps' EQ has several bands, but it's still a weak EQ, this amps' three knobs and 3 switches (boost/cuts for highs&bass/mid) give you a full range to play around and the tone is pure bass. No filters, no loss of tone when the gain goes up. It will sound like your bass, maybe for the first time!
It also comes with varrying voltage capacity, which especially in Afghanistan (or on the road in general) comes in handy since you don't always know the levels you'll get when you show up for the next gig.
Overall, this head is a solid amp, it does the job and it does it darned well. Get yours today if you live on the road and play bass :)

(More customer reviews)The weighted keyboard feels a lot like a real piano. It is nice to be able to play pipe organ sounds and experiment with combinations of sounds. You can use any two instruments at the same time...Grand piano and strings is wonderful as is Grand piano 2 and electric piano 2. The recorded library is very nice as well. The sound is pretty full on all of them. Not exactly like playing a pipe organ or a piano, but that is not expected on a keyboard.
The pedal plug ins are great. You can plug in to sustain or soft. You can also adjust the tone, loudness, and a host of other things by pressing function and a combination of keys. They have thought of most everything I needed. Also you can use a headset so you can play while others are sleeping!
