This mic does a great job of what it does, filtering out unwanted noise. I sit in a room with four computers and a TV, and this thing zeroes in on my voice perfectly, disgarding the sound of the computer fans and even ignores the sound from the TV. One of the first things my friend noticed when I was using Skype with this was the background hiss from my old microphone was gone. He often asked me "Are you still there?" because he couldn't tell if my mic was working or not.
That said, the quality of the microphones used are still not superb. The sound quality is much better than most mics due to the noise filtering capabilities, especially against other on-the-desk type mics, but an array of cheap microphones is still just a bunch of cheap microphones. It is obvious when you hear your voice in sound recorder. Don't go buying this expecting something that sounds like studio quality. It's utility comes from it's power to single in on a speaker in noisy environments.
It's a good tool for:
1) Environments where a headset mic is impractical, or perhaps found uncomfortable.
2) Where multiple speakers, speaking one at a time, are common, such as conferences.
3) Many kinds of voice recognition situations. The microphone produces a good consistant quality which is good for such an application.

Most array microphones have a fixed "listen" direction, severely limiting a speaker's range of motion. But the Acoustic Magic Voice Tracker Array Microphone automatically locates and electronically steers toward you when you talk, leaving you free to move around during a speech or teleconference, thus letting you use visual aids or pace with ease. The Voice Tracker works like a headset to improve signal-to-noise ratios in two ways. First, its digital signal processor creates a listening beam that focuses on the talker and spatially filters noise from other directions. Second, its proprietary noise reduction algorithms filter out background noise and reverberations that are present in the acoustic environment. Several talkers can take part in teleconferencing, thanks to the Voice Tracker, since it rapidly steers to the individual participants as they put their two cents in. The Voice Tracker also has a special feature that desensitizes the microphone to sounds coming from preselected directions, so even with construction work going on next door, your voice will come through clearly.
