I find these to be excellent strings if you want to add a little brilliance and complexity to the sound of your guitar. Because of this, they can be very helpful for guitars that have a slightly flat sound, as cheaper and all laminate guitars sometimes do. DR Rares are also great if you have a boomy guitar, as they leave most of the bass but add a clearer top end. I use them on my Composite Acoustics Cargo, and my husband has a set on his medium bowl ovation, and they sounded great when we played live. They're not perfect for every guitar, but then no strings are. BTW, these 10 - 48's are pretty flexible and easy to play.

The RARE? phosphor bronze acoustic strings are a departure from the standard bronze string currently available... possessing a new, different, and stronger "voice". When DR set out to produce a string with new characteristics, the goal was to redesign contemporary thinking about what phosphor bronze can do for a good acoustic guitar. Hand-carved arch-tops and dreadnaughts and good steel string acoustic guitars of rosewood, maple, and mahogany seem to benefit from a distinct improvement in tone, depth, and sustain with RARE? phosphor strings. Players who want a fatter, louder sound, a deeper bottom... (who like to hear their guitars ring out..) will appreciate the RARE? phosphor tone, sound, and feel. Gauges: .010; .014; .022; .030; .038; .048
