I purchased this mixer to add on to my DJ rig, to add some inputs and drive to the audio. I was sorely disappointed in buying this. This manufacturer is smart, the product appears value for money but only when you open the manual, the first thing you read is that the manufacturers use refurbished and/or remanufactured parts to make this unit. That should have been the red light for me, but I decided to open it and test.
I spent one entire night with the manual, but there are so many features that only someone who is accustomed around mixers of this type will be able to navigate out of the box. While it seems to be "feature packed" it really isn't anything more than what any good standard powered mixer should do. Anyway, here are my grouses with this unit:
1. The unit has very little drive and headroom....you have to push the faders almost all the way up to get any good drive, and to keep the trim level pretty high, which means little headroom before the red/clipping led's light up.
2. The unit I purchased has NL4 speakon connectors, which must be purchased separately, and is not stated on the box. so one would not know what connectors to buy until one opens the box.
3. No XLR line outputs! This is a big no-no for me since I used powered main speakers and they use XLR inputs. You have to therefore purchase a 1/4" to XLR cable, since the line outputs and monitor outs (unpowered) are 1/4" type.
4. The unit I purchased was shorting on one channel. I hooked it up to my speakers and the sound level was very low and distorted on one channel. I thought that it may be a bad connection or a shorted wire or a blown speaker but when i switched the speakon with the other channel, the audio was fine. I decided to tap the end of the mixer with my hand just to the side of the output connectors and BAM..the audio comes on like the other side. Every time I connected it and powered the unit up I have the same issue...needless to say I will be returning this item immediately.
I guess it is true that good things aren't cheap, and as I thought this was a good item for someone on a budget I was wrong...I should have just gone with a better brand like Yamaha or Allen & Heath.

If you need superior stereo sound for small club gigs, churches or speeches, but have to keep the outboard gear to a minimum, the 12-channel PMP1000 can deliver. The 500 watt mixer has built-in mic preamps and an FX processor, as well as enough power to drive both mains and monitors thanks to dual 250 watt onboard power amps.
