(More customer reviews)I bought this to stick in my suitcase and play on the road. It arrived very poorly set up - with a bent screw holding on the tailpiece that I needed to replace from the hardware store. The bridge was also so high that the banjo could not be played in tune. After an e-mail from the president of Goldtone responding to my questions (I was impressed), I lowered the bridge and the action and repalced with strings with nylagut. Now it has a nice quiet plunky sound and is in tune. I think it will do what I want, but I was not impressed with the quality control on how this came from Amazon. I own another Goldtone I thought was great.

A true backpacker weighing in at only 2 pounds!May be tuned in open C or open D, the Gold Tone Plucky is no toy. The neck width is similar to a full size banjo for ease of fingering and its low string action allows great playability. Perfect for the young child, on the trail, or cuddling up with on the couch. Set up perfectly at the Gold Tone Factory in Florida just like the big boys. If you are playing with others and need to tune to standard G, the string gauges may be changed to the following: .016, .034, .024, .019, .016. Includes a carrying bag.
