Great processor, if you have the correct heat sink. The heat sink that came with this is not what I would have chosen, but I trusted that they knew what they were doing. It did great until I used all four cores at once, and it cooked itself. I have been putting heat sinks on processors ever since they were first needed. Chances I did it wrong are extremely slim. The included heat sink works great for word processing. But I would not suggest using it for serious gaming or number crunching. No definite info on whether Linux has a problem with the 9600, or if the chip was defective right out of the second hand packaging it was in. It had a film on it that appeared to be heat sink compound. Was it used, or just tested?
