If your a guitarist into rock and metal, GET THESE STRINGS!!!!! I started playing guitar in 1988, and I searched for a LONG time trying to find the right strings to give me the exact tone I wanted(everything down to the wood the guitar is made of determines the sound). When I found D'Addario, it was like a gift from god. From the first note I played, I fell in love with the tone these strings provided and in almost 15 years, I've NEVER even thought about using another brand!!
In addition, D'Addario packages a 7-string pack for players who like to play low. I've been tuning down right from start, and about 10 years ago, I got the 7-string guitar on my profile page. It was always a problem finding the right gauge string to use for the B-string, and it was hard to keep the string in tune. Now that they carry a 7-string pack, those days are in the past!!
These are by far the best strings on the market for rock/metal players, however there is one bad point; If you practice intensely, and for any serious length of time your fingers WILL get dirty from constant pressure(breakdown of the nickel). Depending on how much you play, you will need to change strings anywhere from once a week to once a month.
