the furman M8D IS an entry level unit with a few bells and whistles voltage display, rack lights with dimmer, .this unit gives very basic protection and will die with a big enuff surge/spike unlike the more high end furman units that will just shut down & reset itself after a large surge/spike if you are going to be using this unit for long hours on end at a time you might want a more hi-end furman unit i am a mobile DJ and i have 3 rigs i use this on my smallest rig it's a ok unit for the price ***

A Merit ?M? Series Power Conditioner is the perfect low-cost AC power solution for any rack mount system. Install an M-8, M-8D, or M-8L in the top slot of your rack, and the eight switched AC outlets in the rear panel will power up and protect all your equipment up to a 15-amp load. The M-8L and M-8D feature two slide out, swiveling light fixtures to provide discreet illumination of your equipment on stages, in studios, and in other dark places. A dimmer knob lets you adjust the lamp brightness to just the right level. The M-8D adds a bright red, three-digit LED meter that displays incoming voltage. The M-8 and M-10 are designed for applications where lights are not required.M-Series conditioners protect your delicate electronic equipment by combining high voltage varistor (MOV) surge and transient suppressors. The fast-acting supression circuit quickly responds and clamps transient voltages to safe levels. An RFI/EMI interference filter works to prevent noise from fluorescent lights, certain dimmers, radio transmitters, and similar sources of ?electronic pollution? from contaminating the AC line and from there, leaking into sensitive audio, video, or computer circuits. The M-8 and M-8L are NRTL/TUV listed. Circuit BreakerFor safety, a circuit breaker is provided on the rear panel.
