(More customer reviews)I am not a sponsor for Planet Waves...although I dig most of their stuff. I have have been playing acoustic for 10 years now, and have always had problems with picks. At first I didn't know how to strum, so thin nylon was the answer. Then I moved to hard Fender picks when I got better, and they would always slip. I have been finger picking for awhile and decided to ask around about picks. Went to Guitar Center and figured I needed something big that wouldn't slip, so I grabbed 2mm Gator Grip picks (yeah, I know, like I'm a bass player or something). The man at the counter was inquisitive and said that Black Ice had been getting a lot of rave responses. So I snagged some .55mm Black Ice (only size they had). I started with the Black Ice and at first didn't like them, because I play really hard and the pick always slips. I used the 2mm picks for a couple days with some really booming sounds, and was very pleased. Then I went to the Black Ice to see a difference. Holy moth balls, Geronimo! I can play fast as a fox with these puppies. The slipping was just technical, and I easily overcame it. I noticed some of the other picks at the store had like an unfinished mold that looked to hang off and might cause problems. The Black Ice don't and they are all molded perfectly. Needless to say, I am a big fan now, and believe I have found the perfect pick. These babies are sharp and crisp, but still produce a nice chorus strumming. Try 'em out.
