(More customer reviews)It is true; these strings aren't as bright as a set of EJ 16s. However, I hate to see them written off as inferior. I have used these for some time now and liked them so much I put them on all my acoustics. The way they reduce string noise is nothing short of wonderful. There are ways to get a brighter sound. If you use a pick, use a lighter one. If finger picking, use more nail than flesh. I'll admit these strings may not be for everyone, but then neither are EJ 16s.

D'Addario Flat Tops are round wound, then precision ground, leaving the outer surface smooth and "semi-flat." This produces a smooth, flattened playing surface, but does not sacrifice the warm tone and sustain associated with phosphor bronze strings. Flat Tops are excellent for recording and greatly reduce finger noise.
